1. Overview
Weather Fortune (“we”, “our”) provides a free globalweather forecast — weather today, weather tomorrow, live radar and air quality — atweatherfortune.pages.dev. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the site, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Search queries & approximate location: when you search a city, your query (and, if you use “near me”, coordinates you approve) is sent to our edge API to fetch the forecast. We do not build a profile of you from it.
- Preferences you set: °C/°F units, dark mode, and saved places (up to 8) are stored in your browser's
localStorageon your device — not on our servers. - Push notifications (opt-in only): if you tap the bell, your browser creates a push subscription so we can send severe-weather alerts. You can revoke this any time in your browser settings.
- Contact messages: if you email us via the Contact page, we receive your address and message only to reply.
3. Information we do NOT collect
- No accounts, passwords, or sign-ups.
- No advertising profiles, no cross-site tracking, no sale of personal data.
- No precise background location — location is used only when you ask, per search.
4. Cookies & local storage
We do not set advertising or analytics cookies ourselves. The site useslocalStorage for theme, units, and saved places so your choices persist between visits. Clearing site data in your browser removes them. Embedded third parties (e.g. RainViewer radar on the radar page, Google Fonts) may set their own cookies or logs under their policies.
5. Data providers & third parties
- Open-Meteo (forecast, geocoding, air quality) — receives the queried place/coordinates to return weather. See open-meteo.com.
- WeatherAPI (optional provider) — used only when the site operator enables it.
- RainViewer — loads the live precipitation map tiles/frame.
- Cloudflare — hosting/edge cache; standard server logs (IP, user agent) may be kept briefly for security.
6. How long we keep data
Forecasts are edge-cached anonymously (no personal identifiers) to keep the site fast worldwide. Server logs, if any, are retained only as long as needed for security and operations. Anything stored in your browser stays there until you clear it. Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to respond.
7. Your rights
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent. Because we hold no accounts or profiles, most requests can be fulfilled by clearing local site data and unsubscribing from push. For anything else, contact us via theContact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
Weather Fortune is a general-audience weather utility and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this page as features change; the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect revisions. Material changes will be noted here. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy — see also ourTerms & Conditions.
